Released in 2002, this German hop has one of the lowest alpha acid contents in the world, so it is always used as an aroma hop. It has a citrus and tangerine aroma with a hint of spice.
It is a noble-like variety with a low Cohumulone content (12-17% of AA) and mild bittering. It has a complex character that is a perfect balance between the spice, floral, and fruity elements sought after in German varieties.
Saphir works great in Belgian Ales, Wheats, and Witbiers.
